Food Insecurity, What is it?

Food Insecurity is the lack of food and/or lack of regular access to food. Food insecurity is caused by poverty, lack of knowledge, unemployment/lack of income and health issues.

Low Food Security

Very Low Food Security

No worries/trouble obtaining food

A few worries about obtaining food however the quantity and quality of the food does not change

Quantity of food stays the same, but the quality decreases

Both quantity and quality of food are greatly altered by lack of income or other issues

We are Troop 21194. Our mission is to sustain a garden that can thrive with the help of future generations of girl scouts. Our garden has created resources that can be donated to provide for local families.

5 Things you can do to help combat food insecurity

1.

Volunteer at food banks/ pantries

2.

Donate to organizations, food banks/pantries or homeless shelters

3.

Organize or go to a food drive

4.

Create a community garden in your area

5.

Educate others about food insecurity and how they can help with the issue
